Lessons & Fees
Many people never had the opportunity to learn as a child. Other's were simply not taught in a way which helped them to want to learn. Whatever the history I can teach from the very beginning, or for those with some knowlegde from a point when they are comfortable.
Adults learn in a different way from children. They often want more information and explanation to make sense of things. I have an Adult Education Teaching Certificate and am aware of and experienced in the unique challenges which adults face with their learning.
My pupils vary in their aims. Some are preparing for practical exams, some for theory exams, some for composition exams, but most are simply learning for pleasure. A good understanding of the construction of music is encouraged from the earliest stages and this knowledge can be applied to other instruments.
Lessons last 45 mins as this gives plenty of time without going on too long and being overwhelming.
I try to arrange a regular time for each pupil but appreciate that this isn't always possible.
Currently the lesson fee is £14.
In addition to this pupils are encouraged to buy a course book - currently £12.95 for the piano book. Further material may be needed, for example, if exams are to be taken. Also, exam fees are an aditional cost.
