Lessons & Fees
Many people never had the opportunity to learn as a child. Others were simply not taught in a way which helped them to want to learn. Whatever the history I can teach from the very beginning, or for those with some knowlegde from a point when they are comfortable.
Adults learn in a different way from young children. They often want more information and explanation to make sense of things. I have an Adult Education Teaching Certificate and am aware of, and experienced in, the unique challenges which adults face with their learning.
For beginners in piano I use a course specially designed for adults. For flute I use a general beginners book. Progression from this is to graded exam material and technical studies designed to improve technique. More advanced pupils are assessed in terms of their sightreading skills and technical ability and appropriate books are recommended.
Lessons last 45 mins as this gives plenty of time without going on too long and being overwhelming. I prefer to arrange a regular time for each pupil as there is high demand, particularly for evening lessons.
Currently the lesson fee is £15. The lesson fee is reviewed each spring.
In addition to this beginner pupils need to buy a course book . Further material will be required as the pupil progresses. Also, exam fees are an aditional cost.
Where? - At my house, which is within 2 minutes of junction 7 of the M54, in Wellington.
When? - My teaching slots are (subject to availability) Mondays to Thursdays - afternoons and evenings.
